flag challenge

This week on Thursday and Friday mornings we had to make a flag that lowered and raised with a metre ruler, tape that was a meter long, scissors, string and paper that was 5 metres long.

On Thursday we completely failed and when we did it on Friday we could make it stand on its own for a bit but then it fell over. After we failed Mr Wood said that we could go back and make it again with the same things, making the same thing but we could use as much of the materials as we needed. We made our flag and it was taller than some people in our class.

WILDBOY The Journey of Brando Yelavich
By Stephanie Chamberlin

WALT: infer meaning within and beyond the text

Level 1. Literal Meaning (we find evidence in the text)
  • Brando didn't like the way seagull Tastes “I fought with my parents about everything,”Brando’s goal was hugely ambitious.
Level 2. Inferential Meaning (we read between the lies to infer what the writer has implied)
  • The Movie ‘Into the Wild’ had a massive impact on Brando and he thought he could do something similar.school was not for him.   He didn't want to be like everyone else
Level 3. Applied Meaning (we decide what the author might think or may want us to think from what has been said-we make a link to the text from our own experiences)
  • Brando changed his life by setting himself a huge goal. Along the way he learned a lot about himself, the world, his place and about others in it.  I know when you go hunting you don't always get an animal so he would of got hungry

Friday Clubs

On Friday, Mr wood kicked Cohen, Luke, Regan and I out of class!!! ;) And sent us to the pond with MrB. We are trying to get all of the weeds out because Kevin hates the pond how it is. So Mr B got us to do it because we knew we would like to get wet and muddy. When we got to the garden Mr.B said Who wants theses pair of waders?!!!  Luke and Regan grabbed them and I'm glade i didn't because they looked like Oompa Loompas!!! (haha you dorks!!!) . As you can see me and Cohen and I are from the west coast with our gumboots full of water and up to our knees.
